The HR plan covers the first 100 days after close, when the focus shifts from Day 1 execution to the full integration of two organizations into one workforce.
The first priority is compensation and benefits. HR compares total compensation across both companies and finalizes the combined bonus program. Benefits—including PTO, retirement plans, health coverage, and other programs—are harmonized, with carrier systems loaded, tested, and monitored so every employee is enrolled correctly. These are not administrative tasks; they are some of the most important drivers of employee confidence and retention.
At the same time, HR begins to prove the new operating model works. Employee records are migrated into a single HRIS, payroll is validated through multiple pay cycles, and every exception is investigated and resolved. Parallel system runs, field-by-field validation, and repeated payroll testing ensure the combined HR platform is stable before legacy systems are retired.
The organization itself also begins to take shape. Reporting relationships are finalized, critical positions are filled, and actual headcount is measured against the deal's synergy targets. Weekly attrition data is reviewed by team, manager, and location, giving leadership an early warning if retention begins to slip.
Culture is another major focus. HR aligns policies across the combined company, conducts Day 30 and Day 60 pulse surveys, and escalates signs of cultural friction before they become larger organizational problems. Survey results are strong indicators of employee engagement, adoption, and retention.
Throughout the integration, a detailed Risk Register tracks every significant risk, issue, assumption, and dependency. Each item has a named owner, a mitigation plan, and a target resolution date, ensuring problems are surfaced early.
The Day 100 gate formally closes this HR integration, documenting what was delivered, what remains outstanding, and what transitions to business-as-usual ownership.
