Communications Post-Merger Integration Tools & Templates by Phase
The post-merger integration communications tools and completed templates on this page (in gold) help acquirers communicate with clarity and consistency and maintain stakeholder trust from pre-close to the finish of the integration.
Pre-Close Planning. As soon as possible, a kickoff meeting is held that defines the responsibilities and objectives of the communications workstream. Then the pre-close plan is developed, identifying the communications required before and after Day 1.
Day 1 and Week 1. To achieve Day 1 readiness, employee, customer, and supplier guides are developed that equip managers and customer-facing teams with the deal’s core messages and answers to expected questions. The sequence and timing for delivering these communications are established in the Day 1 communications plan. During the execution of the plan, emerging issues are addressed and leaders are kept informed of matters requiring attention.
Days 8 Through Day 100. After the launch, the Day 100 plan continues to keep employees informed about what is changing. An employee survey is conducted to gauge how well that information is being received and understood. The communications workstream uses that feedback, along with reactions throughout the integration, to refine its approach.
