This completed FAQ tool makes sure information technology teams are prepared with the right answers on M&A Day 1.
Employees questions about IT fall into four categories, and each one reflects a different kind of anxiety.
- Support questions — who do I call, which help desk, what's the number. These are really questions about whether anyone is paying attention to the day-to-day experience of people in the acquired company.
- Email questions — will my address change, will I lose my emails, can I schedule a meeting with someone at the other company. These are questions about identity and inclusion in the new organization.
- Device and phone questions — will I get a new cell phone, will my desk number change, will conferencing work across companies. These are about disruption and whether the tools people rely on to do their jobs are about to become unreliable.
- Network and application questions — can I still access my files, what do I do if I need access to the other company's systems, how do I connect remotely. These are the most operational and the most urgent for people with cross-company responsibilities.
Every question in these categories gets a clear, direct answer — and the themes across all of them are the same: Day 1 is stable. Nothing changes before it's communicated. Support is available through the same channels as before. Changes to email addresses, phone systems, and application access will happen over time, with advance notice, not as surprises.
A well-crafted "Answers to FAQs" document gives IT the credibility that comes from having accurate, honest answers.
