Day 1 Communications M&A Plan
Body

There are over 70 tasks in this Communications workstream's plan to prepare for and execute on Day 1. This a list of 10 of the more critical ones:

  1. Develop the master integration narrative and core messages — the single story, aligned to the deal rationale, that every audience-specific message has to trace back to.
  2. Build audience-specific messaging frameworks and the Day 1 communication guides — tailored versions for employees, customers, vendors, media, investors, and regulators, so each group hears the right level of detail.
  3. Draft the Day 1 press release and stage all website and social content — the public-facing assets, QA'd and ready to publish on signal.
  4. Confirm the Day 1 publish sequence and complete final legal review — lock the order (regulatory filing → investor comms → employee announcement → press release → social) and clear every asset through Legal and compliance before anything goes live.
  5. Clear the Communications Day 1 Readiness Gate — the formal checkpoint confirming assets are approved, workflows are tested, and no blockers remain.
  6. Execute the Day 1 communications sequence — trigger all staged assets in the approved order and on the approved timeline.
  7. Host the Day 1 all-hands town hall and coordinate top-account outreach — run the scripted town hall for employees while coordinating with sales leadership on personal calls to the top 20 strategic accounts.
  8. Support executives with real-time coaching and message discipline — keep every leader on-narrative during the highest-visibility hours of the deal.
  9. Monitor Day 1 reception across every channel — track employee sentiment, media coverage, social reaction, and customer inquiries as they come in.
  10. Assess Day 1 / Week 1 effectiveness — evaluate media coverage quality, employee feedback, and customer reactions to catch and correct any narrative drift early.

The Communications' workstream's Day 1 job is to make sure the deal is explained on the company's terms, not by rumor, speculation, or a competitor's spin.
