When the deal closes, employees want one thing: answers. The uncertainty that builds in the days and weeks following an acquisition announcement is not neutral — it drives the people with the most options to start looking at them. The worst thing leadership can do is go silent or communicate in vague generalities that leave employees to fill in the blanks themselves. This communication template is built to prevent that. It's honest, direct, and focused on what people actually need to know to decide whether their future is with the combined organization.
The headline is that most employees keep their jobs. The majority of roles in the combined organization will not be impacted by the integration, and employees will not be asked to re-interview for their current roles if those roles remain unchanged in the new structure. That message needs to lead — because without it, every other message gets filtered through anxiety. Say it clearly, say it early, and repeat it. Employees who understand they're not at risk become engaged participants in the integration rather than distracted observers trying to protect themselves.
For those who are affected, the commitment is transparency and speed. New organizational structures will be defined by business unit, and decisions will be communicated within 90 days of close. Both companies' employees will be considered for new and open roles, with the staffing process governed by a structured nomination and interview process. Mission-critical employees are identified and nominated by the acquiree, receive automatic interview opportunities, and are evaluated against clearly defined business needs. A governance body reviews hiring manager recommendations before any offer is extended. No one gets treated as a second-tier candidate based on which company they came from.
Where redundancies exist, affected employees will be told directly and given a clear picture of their options. Enhanced severance packages — designed to be equitable across both organizations — cover employees whose roles are eliminated within 24 months of close. Outplacement services follow for all affected employees. The process will be completed as quickly as possible so everyone can plan accordingly. Dignity and respect aren't soft commitments tucked into the closing paragraph — they're built into the structure of every decision this process produces.
