M&A Integration Kickoff Meetings by Workstream
After the IMO kickoff, integration leads hold their own individual launch meetings with their teams. By the end of these sessions, team members understand their role and what's specifically expected of them for their piece of the integration.
Each presentation, developed and tailored for each workstream (Human Resources, Information Technology, Communications, Finance, Sales, and Legal), covers the following 10 areas:
- Value Drivers — specific reasons why a workstream's performance matters to the deal's success
- Success Metrics — measurable targets that define how well a workstream is performing
- Extent of Integration — what parts of the companies will unify immediately, what phases in over the next hundred days, and what doesn't need to be touched at all
- End States — what "done" looks like, defined separately for each audience
- Non-Negotiables — handful of requirements that cannot be deferred, delegated, or compromised
- Governance Model — who owns each decision and what is their authority
- Guiding Principles — shared rules a team follows when no policy covers the moment
- Core Messages — consistent story every leader should be able to recite
- Integration Timeline — the high-level plan for the workstream with dated milestones across three phases: Pre-Close, Day 1/Week 1, and Days 8–100
- Due Diligence Rules of Engagement — legal boundaries on what can be shared or done before close
These presentations are packed with precisely the information that integration team members need prior to starting detailed planning.
