Pre-Close Sales Merger Integration Plan

Prior to close, the Sales workstream simultaneously builds its governance foundation and conducts the due diligence that makes Day 1 execution possible — appointing the Sales Lead, establishing clean room protocols, evaluating CRM platforms and sales technology.

Running in parallel, the go-to-market plan takes shape. Cross-selling potential is assessed and a unified lead generation strategy is defined. Plus, the future combined revenue targets and quotas are calibrated carefully to balance ambition against the rep attrition risk that comes with setting the bar too high too early.

The Day 1 communications infrastructure is built before close as well. That includes customer segmentation and messaging guides, CEO-signed announcement letters for the top fifty accounts, an objection handling guide, and a full sales enablement kit covering decks, battle cards, and pricing sheets.

The phase closes with a formal Day 1 Readiness Gate: a dry run that simulates the actual Day 1 sequence end to end, and the VP of Sales certifying to the IMO that systems are tested, communications are ready, and no unresolved blocker stands between the team and a successful Day 1.
